April 2013

A very big thank you to David and Denise Broomhead from everyone and all the hounds at Greenfields

Our North Wales co-ordinator David Broomhead has decided to take a step back from the fundraising. David actually started the North Wales Group with the first Coffee Morning in Penrhyn Bay in 2009 and has built up a dedicated group of helpers and supporters. He has worked tirelessly organising numerous Coffee Mornings and Fundraising Dinners, and attending many Dog Shows and similar events. His car has been so full of equipment at times that there has been no room for Denise! Since he started, the North Wales Group has raised in excess of £7,200. David will still be involved in a smaller way and will continue to give talks on Greenfields’ behalf. So a HUGE Thank You to David, Denise and Phantom for all their efforts over the last 4 years and we hope to see you at future events. And Denise, you have finally got your garage back!!

Holmes & Murphy Open Day

A huge thank you to Sarah and Fiona of Holmes & Murphy Veterinary Practice in Llandudno for inviting us to be part of their Open Day on Saturday 13th April 2013.  It was a very good day with an excellent turn out of local people and their dogs!

Our two Hounds, Joe and Finn, were very well behaved and gave a very good demonstration of how laid back Greyhounds are!  We had a successful day of fundraising plus we had a couple of enquiries about adopting a Hound.

We would like to thank everyone at the vets for making us feel so welcome and for their very generous donation

March 2013

A great big thank you to Safety Screens Ltd of Greenfields Industrial Estate Congleton, who have donated plastic covers for the pop holes in the kennels - this is brilliant for keeping the kennels warmer and keeping them draught free.

Christmas and New Year 2012

A very happy new year to all our volunteers and supporters. Thank you so much for everything you do to help Greenfields.

Our volunteers in Shropshire and Wales have freely given their own time and energy in fundraising and fostering dogs.

Our people in Staffordshire have helped me start to get out and about promoting our dogs (and in the case of Sharon and Christine spending hours and hours... making lovely things for us to sell) as well as turning up on a weekend to help walk them.

Special thanks must go to John Hayes who has been promoted to 'Head of Kennel Maintenance Dept' not only does John do the work (along with Jo and Tommy), he also badgers local businesses to give us materials free of charge.

Thank you to everyone who has used their wonderful talents to make things for our stalls and especially Ann Johnston who (apart from looking after our website) has started up 'Fleecy Tails' using the wool from our sheep to make money for the hounds.

For most of this year we have been running at 14 kennel dogs so a very heartfelt thanks must go to Jackie Blake for turning up rain, hail or shine to keep our kennels clean and the dogs groomed. I really couldn't have done it without her.

Thank you to everyone who has made a donation to Greenfields this year. It really will have made a difference to one of our dogs

Last but not least our wonderful vets Churnet Valley Vets of Cheddleton without whom we would not have a rescue. Pat, Dawn, Debbie Jo and Emily provide expert advice and help on a daily basis. I don't think we could find a better sighthound vet than Pat.

When you visit a rescue It's not just the people you meet there who work to save the dogs. It's the whole team behind them.

December 2012

A very big thank you to Doreen Walton who has been making 'Glittering Guardian Angels' charms and selling them on behalf of Greenfields throughout the year. This has generated much needed funds and Doreen ended the year by selling them in her local hair salon Joel Milton Willis in Werrington Road, Stoke on Trent. The stylists at the salon raised £62.00 and decided to donate it to Greenfields.

Thanks very much boys!

A very big thank you to all our lovely supporters who sent in a Christmas donation for the dogs. We really appreciate it and it does make big difference to our work.

A huge thank you to Lee Outten who competed in the Liverpool Triathlon on 1st July 2012 and raised the excellent sum of £162.00

He completed the race in a brilliant time of 1 hour 28 minutes 42 seconds, finishing 9th out of 33 in his age category (45-49 years) and overall he finished 93rd out of 329 competitors which is a very impressive performance.

Thank you to everyone who generously sponsored him and to Lee for his wonderful efforts.  Lee is pictured with Sal and Phantom

July 2012

I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who came to see us at the Leek show.

We managed to raised £534.00 which is brilliant.

Big thanks must go to our volunteers who put in so much time and effort making products.   Ann, Christine, Jo and Sharon who made all the lovely craft things, John and Tim who not only made props but set up the whole thing on the day, they also did a good turn as balloon salesmen. Sonia who made all the lovely hand baked dog treats and Mrs Walton who made all the lovely Angel charms (which are always on sale in Churnet Valley Vets so if you are passing pop in and treat yourself to one).

The team at Churnet Valley Vets especially Pat Kinch (without whose time and dedication we would not be able to provide such good medical care)

Jo, John and Tom Hayes who come every week to take the dogs out for a lovely long walk and stuff them full of treats not to mention all the time and expertise given over Christmas when the three of them insulated all the kennel roofs and installed electric heaters so that our dogs could be warm.
